What
is "Project Warnock Hersey"? No, it's not a top-secret mission,
whereby Ruskin sends Rick Cravy back in time with a CD50 in hand to change the
future of the
damper industry (that's already been done). "Project: Warnock Hersey" is an example of how Ruskin continues to provide new products while
moving in the direction the market mandates. "Project: Warnock Hersey"
is Ruskin doing what other manufactures struggle to do.
Warnock Hersey, like UL, is an independent agency which evaluates and tests
products to recognized standards including those dictated by UL, NFPA, ASTM,
etc. If the product meets the minimum requirements set forth in the referenced
standards or other Warnock Hersey specifications, then Warnock Hersey will list
the product, and the Warnock Hersey certification mark can be affixed on it.
In
the case of "Project: Warnock Hersey," an application of ceiling fire
dampers into a residential building required a label. The job was a huge apartment complex in Tampa, FL called the Vinings Club
at Boot Ranch. The application involved utilizing a CFD at a ceiling penetration
off the top residential air handler. The duct penetrated the fire-rated ceiling
then ran through the rest of the apartment.
No
CFD had been approved for use in this application, but by working with the
design engineer and the authorities having jurisdiction, this opportunity
presented itself. The hard work resulted in thousands of Warnock Hersey - labeled
CFDs for the Vinings Club at Boot Ranch.
