In 1997, Turner Broadcasting realized it needed to add new studios,
voice-over studios and production facilities at its Techwood campus.
As with all production facilities, acoustical properties of the system
were a primary concern. The studio specifications called for a maximum
sound level of NC15. Temtrol air handling units were the solution.
The
Temtrol units were custom designed from the ground up. The units
include 3” double wall with inlet and outlet attenuator banks,
multiple coil banks, high efficiency filtration and 12 blade plenum
fans. The units range from 20,300 cfm single fan design to 55,000 dual
fan design.
Due to the stringent site requirements, the units were performance
tested for airflow and sound power at the CES AMCA-Accredited Lab to
ensure acoustical compliance. The Temtrol units passed the performance
tests with flying colors. They are now producing conditioned air for
Turner Movie Classics, The Cartoon Network and many other broadcasts. |
