This month, Becky Bradshaw, TBCo Nashville Project Coordinator, reflects on 34 years with Tom Barrow Company. She began her career with TBCo as a receptionist while also assisting the quote department at a time when prices were figured by hand. She later led the quote department before moving to her current role as project coordinator.
“When I started, Mrs. Barrow was our HR department,” reminisced Becky. “TBCo has grown a lot while still maintaining the original family feel.” She also noted the growth in technology the company has experienced over the years. “When I started, we had one computer that had to be backed up every night onto a floppy disc, a fax machine that used thermal paper, and a dot matrix printer!”
Becky takes pride in working for Tom Barrow Company. “This is a specialized business, and it makes me proud when I can help someone learn about our industry and products.” She shared that working for TBCo keeps everyone on their toes because new products are continuously being added. She feels that learning is part of the job and settling for status quo isn’t part of the TBCo mentality.
When asked what advice or insights she would share with someone starting their journey at TBCo, Becky shared that they should never be afraid to ask questions. “That is how we learn. Mr. Barrow would send out Two-Minute Memos with guidance on handling sales and customer situations.” For added inspiration, she suggested new team members find someone in their office that has a Skills binder so they can read Mr. Barrow’s memos.
She highlighted one of the values Tom Barrow Company was built on – integrity. “Integrity continues to be an important part of TBCo after 70 years of business. This is an outstanding quality that has not changed as the company has progressed.” With values like this at its core, it’s no wonder there are so many wonderful long-term team members like Becky to celebrate this milestone anniversary!
