Jacksonville Branch: Buddy Walk Community Support

Tbco Jacksonville Team

Posted on April 01, 2020

Buddy Walk® was established in 1995 by the National Down Syndrome Society to celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness Month in October and to promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome. The local Jacksonville Buddy Walk has been facilitated by the Down Syndrome Association of Jacksonville since 2003.

This Jacksonville event also raises funds for the local Down Syndrome Association. They provide many great services to local families right here in the First Coast such as Occupation, Physical & Speech Therapy assistance, Wellness & Fitness Programs, Educational Workshops, Social Opportunities, and more.

TBCo has supported and participated in the walk as part of the Alvaro’s Amigos team for the past four years. The team was started to support Jacksonville Team Member Rosa Texidor’s son, Alvaro, as well as the organization as a whole. Not only has TBCo supported the walk as a sponsor, but most of the TBCo employees also register as walkers or support via donations. Together, the contributions from TBCo and its employees have been about $1,000.00 total (per year).
